Bryan Akipa's The Flute Player 1996 -back- Sounds of the Northern Plains prairie have the power to uplift the human spirit. A gentle wind blowing through a cottonwood tree, crickets in a summer night's air, a meadowlark's song lost in the distance together with thetraditional Dakota flute can be relaxing and soothing. In the old times, it was the music for lovers. The essence of the wind, the melody of a red cedar flute, where it comes from, where it goes, is a mystery. As I turn my ear to the music, I can only imagine my great grandfathers. Those old songs are still here and, the new are part of me. A living experience in the traditional arts. -Bryan Akipa Songs: -First Flute Song -Morning Star Love Song -She Said to Me -Cherished Grandmother -Mythical Meadowlark, Mythical Horse -Remember Me -Wherever You Go -You're So Far Away -Emmy's Song - Amazing Grace
